Project Description

A Residence in Sculpted Stillness
In this quietly opulent residence, material, rhythm, and restraint converge. The Fluted Grove takes its name from the repeated vertical elements that echo the calm harmony of a grove—not in the literal sense, but as spatial metaphor. These motifs introduce a gentle rhythm to the interiors, guiding the eye and softening the architecture. The design unfolds with a quiet, organic cadence—favouring flow over formality, tactility over ornament. Here, space is not just seen but felt.
Designed for a couple who rose from modest beginnings through discipline, hard work, and shared vision, the home reflects their values—structure, simplicity, and generosity without excess. What they sought was a space of substance and soul: refined, but never indulgent. That sensibility is translated here with clarity and calm.
Rather than being styled, the home is composed—an exercise in nuanced restraint. Spaces are sculpted through proportion, light, and texture. Every gesture is deliberate; every surface considered. The palette is hushed—foggy greys, chalky taupes, warm ivory—punctuated with accents of black, burnt orange, and wood. Furniture is low-slung and monolithic. Textiles like bouclé, suede, and raw silk add tactile richness and weight.
In the living room, a black-stained wood table anchors sculptural lounge seating, framed by white panelling and a striking marble slab. Walnut battens lend rhythm and warmth, while an amber-streaked rug, a halo-like pendant with orbs, and sculptural objects introduce moments of visual intrigue.
The dining area becomes a sculptural centrepiece. A dark-stained table topped in veined marble echoes the vertical stone surfaces nearby. Muted chairs and a cloud-like pendant soften the composition, while rust-toned florals bring vibrancy. Just beyond, the kitchen offers a crisper counterpoint—white engineered marble counters set against clean-lined ecru cabinetry add air and clarity.
The private spaces maintain this restraint. In the master suite, a leather bed is set before a full-height pleated drapery wall, flanked by a floating desk, book racks, and a rust-toned chair. Slender pendants and black lacquer panels create contrast against the textile softness.
The children’s bedroom is thoughtful and adaptable, with pale wood, soft neutrals, and concealed storage supporting a calm, evolving environment. The guest bedroom is equally considered—anchored by a full-width fluted-wood-paneled backdrop, layered in muted tones and light-diffusing sheers.
Bathrooms are quiet sculptural moments—oversized marble tiles and floating vanities lit from within, evoking a sense of gallery-like serenity.
The Fluted Grove is not driven by trend but by tone—a deeply considered exploration of contrast, clarity, and control. It is at once a sanctuary and a statement, where luxury lies not in excess, but in atmosphere.
