Project Description

The Context
A 3BHK flat in a luxury apartment complex in west Bangalore.

The Brief
The client, an Indian national doctor based in Jamaica, had a clear vision for his dream home in Bangalore. He wanted a plush residence that would serve as a warm and welcoming haven for his family of three, as they relocated to India. The client's requirements were specific: he desired a home that felt light and airy, exuding a sense of warmth and liveliness without compromising on sophisticated aesthetic elements. The challenge was to create a space that was both modern and elegant, yet cosy and inviting.

The Concept
To bring the client's vision to life, we developed a design concept that focused on creating a sense of vastness and increasing the brightness levels throughout the space. We achieved this by incorporating a predominantly light colour palette, which would reflect light rather than absorb it. The use of light hues on walls, floors, and ceilings created a sense of openness and airiness, making the space feel larger than it actually was. To add warmth and liveliness to the space, we introduced splashes of earthy colours, fabrics, and textures. These elements not only added visual interest but also created a cosy and inviting atmosphere.

Design Elements
To execute the design concept, we selected a range of materials and finishes that would enhance the sense of luxury and sophistication. Exquisitely picked marble was used in key areas to lend a touch of elegance and refinement. The marble's subtle veining and nuanced colour variations added depth and visual interest to the space. In addition to marble, we incorporated Oak wood elements, which brought a sense of warmth and cosiness to the space. The Oak wood was used in the form of vertical strips, creating a pattern that captured the gaze while simultaneously calming the senses.

Common Spaces
In the common spaces, such as the living room and dining area, we introduced splashes of colour through furniture, paintings, and accessories. These colourful elements added a touch of personality to the space, making it feel more lively and engaging. The use of vibrant colours and patterns created a sense of energy and movement, perfect for areas where the family would spend time together. To balance out the bold colours, we used neutral shades on walls and floors, creating a calm and serene backdrop for the more vibrant elements.

Private Zones
In the private zones, such as the bedrooms, we adopted a more subdued approach. Pastel shades and neutral beige-cream tones complemented each other, creating a calming and soothing ambiance. The soft colours and gentle textures helped to create a peaceful environment, perfect for relaxation and rest. To add visual interest to the private zones, we incorporated subtly patterned feature walls, which drew the eye and created a sense of depth.

Tying it all Together
To create a sense of continuity throughout the space, we used Oak wood elements and champagne-toned metallic accents consistently. These design elements tied the different areas of the home together, creating a sense of flow and cohesion. The Oak wood added warmth and coziness, while the champagne-toned metallic accents enhanced the luxurious feel of the space. The combination of these elements created a positive, calming, and simultaneously luxurious vibe that was exactly what the client was hoping for.

The Outcome
The final outcome was a stunning home that exceeded the client's expectations. The light and airy space felt warm and welcoming, perfect for a family of three. The sophisticated aesthetic elements added a touch of elegance and refinement, making the home feel luxurious and modern. The client's vision had been brought to life, and the result was a beautiful and functional home that would serve as a haven for years to come. The design concept had successfully balanced modernity with cosiness, creating a space that was both stylish and inviting.
